Molecular agriculture, like molecular medicine, is a translational science. Advances such as the sequencing of plant, animal and bacterial genomes, plant transformation and cloning, gene mapping and the identification of genes associated with specific traits underlie many advances in plant and animal breeding and the production of food, feed and biofuel crops.
